I'm a church goin' man,
Yes, I am
An attendin' soul
To Mother Nature's plan
And I stand at the altar
On a mountain top
Beaming at the beauty
That she hath wrought
Where the holy water runs
From the glacier's mouth
Through the tundra to the streams
And the rising trout
There's a choir of crickets and prairie chickens
Frogs, cicadas and moose
Of critters that gaggle and warble and snort
And howl at the moon
It's a parish with fur and fins and feathers
Claws and paws, too
With bark and beaks, horns and leaves
And harebells in dew
Yes, I'm a church goin' man
Make no mistake
A church goin' man am I
And I bow to the bounty
That I find heaped
Under Mother Nature's smile
I'm a church goin' man,
Yes, I am
An attendin' soul
To Mother Nature's plan
Where a prayer is the swish
Of a raven's wing
And a hymn is the song
The bluebird sings
And the only sermon
That I understand
Is the crashing thunder
'Cross the promised land
With the lightning's flash
That turns my eyes
To the blackened clouds
Marching through the skies
Well, I heard that the Bible
Counts commandments ten
"Thou shalt not compromise Mother Earth"
Should have been eleven
Yes, I'm a church goin' man
Make no mistake
A church goin' man am I
And I bow to the bounty
That I find heaped
Under Mother Nature's smile
Yes, I bow to the bounty
That I find heaped
Under Mother Nature's smile
